On September 5, the Northeast Asian History Foundation held its 422nd Wednesday Forum. This forum featured presentations by newly appointed research fellows, Dahae Baik and Hyun Myung-ho.

The first presenter, Dahae Baik, a researcher from the Institute of Korean-Chinese Relations, gave a presentation on the topic "Goguryeo's International Relations and Liaodong in the 4th-6th Century." In her presentation, she analyzed Goguryeo's multifaceted diplomatic relationships with the Southern Dynasties, Northern Dynasties, and the steppe powers, focusing on the Liaodong region. She emphasized that Liaodong served as an important hub in Goguryeo's international relations.

The second presenter, Hyun Myung-ho, a researcher from the Institute of International Relations, presented on the topic "Korean Workers in Foreign Oil Companies in the Late 1920s." Hyun analyzed the management styles of foreign oil companies and the employment structure of Korean workers at the Munpyeong oil refinery, in the context of the restructuring of the Korean oil market in the late 1920s. He particularly highlighted the issues of discrimination against temporary workers by foreign companies and shed light on the situation of Korean labor during that time.

This Wednesday Forum facilitated in-depth discussions on a variety of research topics. The presentations covered both ancient and modern history, broadening the understanding of different periods and subjects in Korean history. The event also fostered active collaboration among researchers and provided an opportunity to explore new research directions.
