On Friday, September 6, the Northeast Asian History Foundation, in collaboration with the Society for the History of Korea-Japan Relations, held an International Conference on Korea-Japan Relations in the Late Joseon Dynasty in the main conference room. The event featured presentations from four researchers on late Joseon Korea-Japan relations from Japan and four from Korea, with a total of 18 participants, including discussants. The conference was divided into three sessions.

Chairwoman Jihang Park emphasized the significance of this conference, stating that for Korea and Japan to understand each other in the present, it is crucial to reflect on the history of their past relations. She expressed hope that this gathering of historians from both countries would lead to a rich dialogue on history.

The conference served as a platform to encourage joint research and academic exchange between the next generation of scholars in Korea-Japan relations. Plans are also in place to continue holding meetings focused on Korea-Japan relations in the context of pre-modern East Asian international relations and regional exchange history.
