On December 10, the Northeast Asian History Foundation hosted the 2024 Dokdo Research Institute Colloquium in the foundation's main conference room, focusing on "The Korea-Japan Continental Shelf Joint Development Agreement and Legal and Policy Challenges."

The Dokdo Research Institute has been holding annual colloquiums to review major territorial and maritime issues, including Dokdo and the East Sea, and to discuss future tasks. This year's colloquium was planned to examine the legal and policy challenges related to the Korea-Japan Continental Shelf Joint Development Agreement, a key issue concerning maritime boundary demarcation between the two countries.
