On December 13, the Northeast Asian History Foundation held the 2024 International Conference on the Compilation Project of the History of Japanese Imperialism in the Northeast Asian History Foundation’s main conference room. The theme of this year's conference was "Officials and Police in Colonial Korea and Taiwan."

 

Since 2020, the Northeast Asian History Foundation has been promoting the , publishing 37 volumes of research series, 54 volumes of data series, and 30 volumes of educational series to date. This conference was organized to share the project's achievements, focusing on the forthcoming publications Government-General of Korea and Colonial Officials and Japanese Rule in Korea and the Police, and to expand the scope of the project.

 

Notably, the conference aimed to broaden the understanding of the term "History of Japanese Imperialism" by academically examining Taiwan's colonial experience, which paralleled that of Korea. This initiative seeks to comprehend Taiwan's distinct colonial memory and explore its historical background. Additionally, the conference is expected to serve as a significant step toward fostering academic exchanges with Taiwanese researchers, deepening international cooperation, and enhancing comparative research.
