The Northeast Asian History Foundation (Chairperson Park Ji-hang) held an international academic conference on December 5 (Friday) in the foundation’s main conference hall under the theme “The Current Stage and Future Tasks of Chinese History Studies in Korea and Japan.”
Through this conference, the foundation aims to deepen mutual understanding of perspectives between Chinese history scholars from the two countries and to open up new horizons for Chinese history research at their points of intersection.

From the Japanese side, Professor Kotera Atsushi (小寺敦, University of Tokyo), Professor Mizuma Daisuke (水間大輔, Chuo Gakuin University), Professor Sagawa Eiji (佐川英治, University of Tokyo), and Professor Tsuji Masahiro (辻正博, Kyoto University) participated. From the Korean side, Professor Kim Byung-jun (Seoul National University), Professor Oh Jun-seok (Kyungpook National University), Professor Hong Seung-hyun (Changwon National University), and Professor Ha Won-su (Sungkyunkwan University) gave presentations. Leading scholars from Korea and Japan for each period, from the pre-Qin era to the Sui–Tang period, delivered presentations and engaged in mutual discussion.

Chairperson Park Ji-hang expressed the hope that “this will become a valuable opportunity for Korean and Japanese scholars of Chinese history to meet, to share in depth their research concerns and achievements through academic exchange, and to build an academic network based on mutual understanding.”
