Today, the Republic of Korea is an active member of the international community and a leading nation for the future. It is a proud history that has been achieved through the efforts of our people. We have repeatedly experienced conflict and reconciliation with our neighbors, but we have found a way to coexist peacefully.

The Northeast Asia History Foundation was established in 2006 to “establish a correct history and lay the foundation for peace and prosperity in the Northeast Asia region.” Dialogue and cooperation to heal the wounds of confrontation and conflict between nations in Northeast Asia and move toward coexistence is an important task that the foundation is responsible for.

NAHF has been working to develop policies based on high-quality research and to create feasible alternatives. This is a time of rapid change in international affairs and technological advancement that requires us to explore new ways forward. It is also a time to set milestones for a better future.

However, we are currently facing a difficult situation in implementing our mission due to the changing domestic and international situation. Therefore, I would like to critically reflect on the Foundation's achievements so far. In addition, we will continue to look at the conflicts in Northeast Asia from an objective and comparative perspective with the attitude of a geographer of history, and actively promote research and policy development to realize common values.
