International Conference on the ''Northeast Asia Peace Belt'' 
-Let’s turn war heritages of Korea, China and Japan into steppingstone for peace-


The Northeast Asian History Foundation and the Gyeongnamhak (North  Gyeongsang Province Academy) Research Center of Changwon University will co-organize the “Northeast Asia Peace Belt International Conference’’ at Nurimaru (APEC House) in Busan for two days from Dec. 22.

The conference is aimed to provide a stage of debate for the settlement of the current history conflict in East Asia from a future perspective, thereby seeking ways of utilizing war heritages and museums of Korea, China and Japan as the footstep for establishment of peace in the region in mid-and long-term.

Security experts from the three nations and Taiwan will get together to proceed presentation and debate on war and peace issue in the region. The participants will consist of 30 experts in charges of war heritages and peace on the Korean peninsula, head of museum on Nanjing massacre and China-Japan War, peace experts of Japan and war heritage experts of Taiwan.

In particular, the museum director Ju Chiangsan plans to seriously raise the issue of Japanese conservatives’ attempt to contract and deny Japan’s role in the massacre from a viewpoint of a Chinese scholar.

The foundation president Kim Yong-deok noted that “The conference will become a chance to set up a peace network for the people of Northeast Asia – Korea, China, Taiwan and Japan- to go forward friendship and cooperation through in-depth research into the history and the `Northeast Asia Oceanic Peace Belt.’’’
