Japan, Enough! : A Thought on the Recent Dokdo Dispute South Korean President Lee Myung-bak's visit to Dokdo on August 10, 2012 and the ensuing mention of the Japanese Emperor are driving ROK-Japan relations into the worst upheaval since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Tokyo went so far as to summon the Japanese ambassador to Korea Masatoshi Muto (武藤正敏), and make an official proposal to jointly refer the Dokdo dispute to the International Court of Justice (ICJ). When Seoul naturally rejected the proposal, Tokyo, as if they knew that Seoul would do so, had Chief Cabinet Secretary Osamu Fujimura (藤村修) make the official announcement that Japan would take action independently.

On this trip, Chungnam National University professor Ko Jun-bong, a joint research fellow on the project. went with me.

'Arirang in Japan' Exploring the Centennial History of the Korean-Japanese 'Whenever the boy used incorrect expressions in Japanese, his kind home room teacher pointed them out and corrected them for him. As he became aware of the incorrect usage of Japanese, the boy found himself growing sensitive to, and even detesting, the mistakes that his family made when speaking Japanese at home.' Lee Sung-si (李成市) (born in 1952), a second-generation Korean-Japanese and professor at Waseda University, recalled in an episode of his personal life seldom spoken in public, as part of the story he told about the life and history of the Korean-Japanese and Korea-Japan relations.

Conference for In-depth Analysis on the 2012 Japanese Government-authorized High School Textbooks On July 27, 2012, the NAHF held a conference to analyze Korea-related descriptions found in high school textbooks approved under the Japanese Ministry of Education (MEXT) textbook authorization system. At this conference, NAHF research fellows presented the results of their review and analysis of Korea-related descriptions found in 39 types of history/geography and civics textbooks out of the 274 types of Japanese high school textbooks authorized on March 27, 2012. And external experts were invited to the discussion of the descriptions of the textbooks on how they had evolved, what their characteristics were, and what problems they had.

『새롭게 본 발해사』 영문판 발간 - 재단 발간 '발해' 교양서에 대한 최초의 영역 출판
The English Edition of A New History of Parhae Saw Light - The First NAHF's Book on 'Balhae' Translated and Published in English A New History of Parhae, the English edition of the title published by the NAHF in 2007, translated by UCLA professor John B. Duncan, has been published by Global Oriental of the international publishing corporation Koninklijke Brill NV. It became the first Korean book on the history of Balhae ever translated into English. John B. Duncan, the translator of this book, is the former director of the UCLA Center for Korean Studies and a renowned scholar in the international community of Korean Studies and in the field of Korean History. He is a great contributor to the development and spread of Korean Studies within the United States, having trained numerous researchers in the related fields. His exchange with the Korean academia is current and ongoing, and he is involved in a variety of academic projects. His extraordinary passion for Korean history and language is also what made the translation of this book possible.
