The Future of Korean Studies in Europe, Culture-based Networking Everything has its timing. Following K-dramas, K-pop, K-food, and K-beauty, K-literature has now risen to the global stage with novelist Han Kang's Nobel Prize in Literature. If we are to revive Korean Studies in Europe, now is the "good timing" to act. With the growing popularity of Korean cultural content, the foundation continues to engage with people from various fields overseas, and to give opportunities for discovering more of the Korean Wave.

Perceptions and Research Trend of Korean History in American Academia Despite the general crisis in the humanities across American academia, Korean Studies is relatively growing. To examine the trends in Korean Studies within American academia, we reviewed 157 research papers on Korean Studies (limited to the humanities) published in the last five years. The review found that in terms of academic fields, history was predominant, with modern history being the most frequently covered period, and the Korean War being the dominant genre. Recently, Korean historians in American academia have diversified their research methodologies to explore new approaches and research areas. Come and discover the dynamic changes in Korean Studies within American academia today.

"China and Its Neighbors" Attending the Academic Conference On October 18, the foundation hosted an academic conference on the theme "China and Western Engagement in the Indo-Pacific Region: Implications and Challenges for East Asia." The conference was attended by 18 experts from academic research institutions and universities in the United States, China, India, Japan, Singapore, and Korea . The discussions delved into the implications of the U.S.-China Competition in the Indo-Pacific, the meaning of U.S. influence in East Asia, and China's role in the geopolitical context of the Korean Peninsula. "Ulleungdo 1882: Prosecutor Lee Gyu-Won’s Time Travel" "Ulleungdo 1882: Prosecutor Lee Gyu-Won’s Time Travel" is based on the 47-day, 48-night official trip record of Prosecutor Lee Gyu-Won (1833–1901) to Ulleungdo, and reconstitutes in details of the people and places he encountered during his journey. Prosecutor Lee’s activities, such as the prohibition of Japan’s illegal invasion of Ulleungdo and the implementation of the Ulleungdo immigration policy, hold significant historical meaning in the context of Korea-Japan relations. This book offers an in-depth understanding of the history and culture of late 19th-century Joseon.
