The Five-Colored Flag Symbolizing the Unity of the Entire Chinese Nation
The five-colored flag is drawn in the ticket made in 1912 by Wanshangzai, an old store in Yunnan.
The Five Races Under One Union is a political slogan of the Republic of China in its early stage, which emphasized the unity of the five major ethnic groups in China. The five-colored flag has stripes in five different colors, and some argue that each of them represents the five major ethnic groups in China: the Han (red); the Manchu (yellow); the Mongol (blue); the Hui (white); and the Tibetan (black).
The use of five-colored flag came to an end when the government led by the Chinese Nationalist Party was established after the collapse of the Beiyang government in 1928.
