National Assembly Education Committee to award plaque of appreciation to NAHF
On November 5, the National Assembly's Education Committee (Chairman Yoo Gi-hong) awarded the NAHF a plaque of appreciation for its contribution to understanding historical issues in Northeast Asia, spreading the right perception of history, and laying the foundations for the peace community in Northeast Asia.
NAHF also co-published the book with the chairman of the National Assembly Education Committee on the theme of 'Responding to the distortion of history in neighboring countries and strengthening the status of Korean history'. On the other hand, we have cooperated with the National Assembly to convey a message of hope to the people and to continue interest in Dokdo.
In the future, NAHF will be responsible for long-term, continuous, comprehensive research and strategic policies on Northeast Asia's history and Dokdo-related issues, and will faithfully carry out publicity, education, exchange and support. And we will establish the right history and lay the foundations for peace and prosperity in Northeast Asia.
2020 Northeast Asian History and Territory Week
NAHF designated October 19-25 as ‘Northeast Asian History and Territory Week’. Through various events such as academic conferences, education and experience programs, Dokdo awards and book review awards ceremony, we wanted to expand public interest in Northeast Asia's history and Dokdo.
Starting with an academic conference on the study of the ruling strategy of the Jin Dynasty, academic events such as ‘The Dokdo Academic Forum’, ‘The invasion of the Japanese colonial period’, and ‘China's Patriotism and Making Ancient History’ were held. And Dokdo Museum Seoul conducted various educational and participation programs such as quiz events, model making, and drawing.
<The 11th Dokdo Award> and <The 2nd Book Review Contest on Educational Books on the History of Northeast Asia Award>
NAHF held an awards ceremony for the winners of ‘The 11th Dokdo Award’ and ‘The 2nd Book Review Contest’ on October 22nd and 23rd. The winners of the 11th Dokdo Award were Lee Min-woo(Gaon High School Teacher) and Lee Jae-hwan(Youngsun Middle School Teacher). Lee Min-woo was recognized for his efforts in Dokdo education and guide for clubs for many years at school. Lee Jae-hwan received awards for his activities as a guide for clubs, book writings on Dokdo, research activities, and SNS Dokdo reporters.
Meanwhile, in the <The 2nd Book Review Contest>, Park Dong-chan of 'Yonbyeon, Another Joseon that we pioneered' and Oh In-kyung of 'Walking Together', which contains the desire to move beyond the conflict between Korea and Japan, won the Grand Prize. In addition, the Excellence Prize(5 people) and the Participation Prize(14 people) were awarded to participants who submitted excellent book reviews based on their understanding of historical issues in Northeast Asia.
Guide for ‘2020 History Academy(20th)’
NAHF hosts the 20th Historical Academy. It will be a special lecture by the author of the book published by NAHF, and will be held on YouTube channel from 19:00 to 20:30 every Thursday from November 12 to December 3.
The History Academy consists of four lectures in total. Professor Jeon Ho-tae of Ulsan University(author of "Meet the murals of Goguryeo tombs"), Professor Jeong Tae-heon of Korea University(author of "Demolition of Modernism toward Peace"), Researcher of NAHF Kwon Eun-joo(author of "Haedong Sungguk, Goguryeo in Balhae", and Researcher of the Research Society for the Forced Mobilization of Japanese Imperialism and Peace Jeong Hye-kyung(author of "Japan's Asia-Pacific War and forced mobilization of Koreans".
Anyone interested in Northeast Asia's historical issues can take the course and apply from October 21 to November 6 at NAHF's website. Tuition is free, and students who participate in all courses are awarded a certificate.
