The Dokdo Museum Seoul,
which prepared a special program for 'Family Month’
The Dokdo Museum Seoul has set up a variety of programs for families. In May, visitors to The Dokdo Museum Seoul and The Dokdo Exhibition Hall at Ganghwamun will be provided with a balloon with a Dokdo Gangchi. We also prepared a Dokdo sticker and a quiz about Dokdo. On weekends and holidays, you can also make Dokdo badges and tunnelbooks. Especially, there is something prepared for those who can not visit the Dokdo Museum Seoul and the Dokdo Exhibition Hall because of Covid-19. We will ship a learning kit to 150 people so that they can enjoy the 'Family Month' at home.
In the future, NAHF will develop activities to enjoy at The Dokdo Museum Seoul and The Dokdo Exhibition Hall. This will help people practice their love for Dokdo. We will make sure they make fun memories with their families. You must book to visit The Dokdo Museum Seoul and The Dokdo Exhibition Hall. The event related to 'Family Month' will be held from May 5 to 30.

'Knowing the history of kimchi in order to respond to China's Kimchi Project’
On April 21, NAHF hosted the 387th forum on Wednesday. The theme is 'Knowing the history of Kimchi in order to respond to China's Kimchi Project', and Park Chae-rin, a researcher at World Institute of Kimchi, was invited as a lecturer.
Park started her lecture on the difference of 'vegetable pickle' according to the birthplace of civilization in the big frame of world history. In addition, Park explained the origin of the record and the evolution of technique about the way of manufacturing 'vegetable pickle', the identity of kimchi from a historical and cultural point of view, the status of kimchi, and the efforts needed to raise the status of kimchi. Park told us about the historical value of kimchi and future alternatives.
This forum discussed ways to protect our own food culture based on the originality and cultural sustainability of kimchi. And it was an opportunity to think about how to respond to the China's Kimchi Project by publicizing the value of kimchi and establishing its identity.
Education programs for middle and high schools for the Dokdo Museum Seoul
The Dokdo Museum Seoul runs online education and The Dokdo classroom for middle and high schools. 86 schools and 13,027 people participate in general online education. 35 schools and 1,790 people participate in real-time online education. 15 schools and 412 people participate in Dokdo classroom.
General online education is operated according to the schedule of each school, but participates in the class using video, activity sheets, and teaching tools produced by NAHF. Real-time online education is scheduled by students and teachers, and participates in real-time at school or at home. The Dokdo Museum Seoul, The Dokdo Classroom, which will be held from next month, will be held at 15 schools starting from Yangpyeong Middle School and Booil Middle School until the end of the year.
Various educational programs such as 'Challenge the quiz on Dokdo', 'Let's become an educator of The Dokdo Museum Seoul', 'Let's learn about Dokdo', 'Dokdo made by my hand', 'Find evidence that Dokdo is the territory of the Republic of Korea', 'I am songster today' are prepared. This will help students to raise their territorial sovereignty over Dokdo and to revitalize education on Dokdo in the school site.
Training on 'East Asian History' for teachers in 2021
: recruiting secondary school teachers in the basic course
NAHF conducts training to improve the understanding of secondary teachers about 'East Asian history' and to improve the expertise of guidance. The theme is ‘the modern period of the four East Asian countries’. This training is conducted in real-time and bidirectional ways. The first stage is held at 2021.6.12 and 6.19, and the second stage is held at 2021.7.10 and 7.17.
Any secondary school teacher can participate free of charge. You can apply on NAHF's website from 2021.5.17 to 5.26. We are going to select 80 secondary school teachers. For the teachers who are eligible, we will send emails and text messages to 2021.5.31.
