The Traces of Ancient Koreans Remaining in the Palace of a Faraway Country West of China

A full-size copy of the restored Afrasiab painting, specifically the western wall on which ancient Koreans are depicted. has been made by the NAHF in collaboration with the national Afrasiab Museum in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The Afrasiab painting dates back to the 7th century during the reign of King Barhuman of the Sogdian kingdom. This painting on the four (East, West, South, North) walls of a square building, which depicts the king, ambassadors coming from various countries, and aspects of life during that time, such as hunting, wedding, and funeral. is of a great historical and cultural value. In particular, the western wall features two figures wearing a bird-feathered official hat and a sword with its characteristic ring-shaped pommel around their waists. Scholars believe that these two figures are highly likely from Koguryo.
