‘Sui Dynasty, Tang Dynasty’ of 『The Cambridge History of China』 published in 1979, represents the achievements of Western academia in research on Chinese history. This book describes Goguryeo and Balhae as independent countries that are not included in China's history. The recently published ‘Six Dynasties’ also saw the contents related to the ancient history of Korea as an international relationship in East Asia. In the meantime, Western studies on East Asia have mainly cited and followed the achievements of Chinese and Japanese academia. So it was difficult to find the achievements of Korean academia in Western studies. So NAHF came to pay attention to the understanding of Western academia about Korean history. We hope to raise the status of Korean history in international academia.
