NAHF Opens ‘Dokdo Museum JEJU’
with Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Office of Education
NAHF has been establishing the Dokdo Museum with the Ministry of Education and the Regional Office of Education since 2016. In order to provide balanced experiential education in each region, we are expanding permanent educational facilities for Dokdo every year. As part of this, the 15th Dokdo Museum opened in the Jeju Education Museum on February 21st.
‘Dokdo Museum Jeju’ tried to approach Jeju residents with the theme of ‘Harmony between Dokdo Gang-chi and Jeju Hae-nyeo’. Dokdo Gang-chi AR game, Dokdo VR, Dokdo 3D stereoscopic video, etc., have been reinforced than before. So, we designed children to know Dokdo easily and funly, and to feel proud of our territory.
We provide visitors to the Jeju Education Museum with various experience activities and exhibition materials. This will make them cherish territorial sovereignty and have the will to defend the territory. We hope that the Dokdo Museum Jeju will become a special space in the future.
The Story of the Dokdo Movement in Korean Residents in Japan
『Grandfather Yoon Young-ha shouting ‘Dokdo’ in Osaka』
NAHF published 『Grandfather Yoon Young-ha shouting ‘Dokdo’ in Osaka』. This year, Shimane Prefecture of Japan is holding the so-called Takeshima Day event and promoting public opinion by claiming wrong sovereignty over Dokdo. At this time, we published a book about the story of Yoon Young-ha, a Korean-Japanese man who enthusiastically campaigned for Dokdo in Osaka, informing the serious harm caused by the so-called Takeshima Day.
Yoon Young-ha(1926) was born during the Japanese colonial period and lived as a Korean in Japan after liberation. So he began the Dokdo movement with a desire for a future in which the people of both Korea and Japan live like friends. This book introduces Yoon Young-ha's ideas and activities on Dokdo. It also tells how serious Japanese provocations are, such as the so-called Takeshima Day event and the description of Dokdo in Japanese textbooks. It also contains why the Japanese government's claim to Dokdo is wrong.
Various aspects of ancient Korean society from the perspective of outsiders
『Chinese Authentic Historic Record 'The Dongyijeon(東夷傳)'
- Translation and Comment 1~4』
NAHF published 『Chinese Authentic Historic Record 'The Dongyijeon' - Translation and Comment 1~4』 which deals with 『Shiji』 and 『Xin wudai shi』. This book is one of NAHF's projects to organize basic data on Korean ancient history and build a foundation research. It is a follow-up to the series 『Chinese Authentic Historic Record 'The Waiguo chuan' - Translation and Comment』 which was completed in 2015.
『Chinese Authentic Historic Record 'The Dongyijeon'』 is highly valuable as a historical material in the study of Korean ancient history, which is absolutely lacking in data. The reason is that this book was written at a time close to the same time compared to 『Samguksagi』 and 『Samgukyusa』, especially because it tells various aspects of Korean ancient society from the perspective of outsiders. NAHF has strengthened the expertise of the book by organizing researchers in each major field(Gojoseon and Buyeo, Goguryeo and Balhae, Baekje and Silla). In order to secure the correct original text, we compared the various editions published after Song Dynasty and corrected the difference.
Each volume consisted of volume 1 『Shiji』, 『Hanshu』, 『Hou hanshu』, 『Three Kingdoms』, volume 2 『Jin Shu』~『Xin wudai shi』 Goguryeo·Balhae, volume 3 『Jin Shu』~『Xin tang shu』 Baekje, volume 4 『Jin Shu』~『Xin wudai shi』 Silla.
