Korea Association of Contemporary Chinese Studies

The Korea Association of Contemporary Chinese Studies is an interdisciplinary academic society comprised of scholars carrying out studies on China in various fields of study including politics, economics, history, philosophy and culture. With around 400 members, this is the only interdisciplinary academic society in Korea concerning studies on China.

The association aims to promote studies on China through exchanges between scholars and also aims to contribute to development of China-related fields in Korea through drafting various policies and giving advice on China based on research outcomes. To achieve its objectives, the association holds its regular academic conferences and joint academic conferences in collaboration with individual Chinese scholars and organizations. It also perform activities like publishing academic journals and newsletters, promoting exchanges with domestic and overseas academic institutes, carrying out on-site investigations in foreign countries in relation to China, and organizing joint researches between different fields of study.

In September 1995, a small number of scholars studying China called themselves 'China Study Group'. Organizing the group more systematically, they elected Dr LEE Tae-hwan (at Sejong Institute of today) as president and constituted an executive committee.
