Since its establishment, the Northeast Asian History Foundation has carried out the following programs that invited South Korean citizens to visit Dokdo.
First, the annual Dokdo Defenders School program, hosted by the NAHF, selects about 90 students and teachers from primary, middle, and high schools across the country and the world for a field trip to Dokdo.
Second, since 2007, the Dokdo Academy, hosted by Dokdo Network, has offered about 3,400 college students at home and abroad an opportunity to learn about and visit Dokdo. In 2010, the Academy launched an educational program for high school students.
Third, the ‘Dokdo Isabu Academy,’ launched in 2012 to celebrate the 1,5000th anniversary of General Isabu’s subjugation of Usanguk, the ancient country in present-day Ullengdo, has offered a training program for 13,500 students from 50 high schools across the country. Last year, the Academy held the ‘Visit Dokdo’ event with about 400 participants. In addition to the ‘Visit Dokdo’ program for teachers in charge of Dokdo education, there are a variety of occasional ‘Visit Dokdo’ events for Dokdo-related organizations and winners of Dokdo-related contests.
